TUESDAY 1pm: NORTHERN Rivers residents have spoken, voting this local council's Christmas tree the "best" in the region.

We published a poll (below) on Friday asking you which tree you liked the best.

When the poll closed at midnight, the winner was revealed: Kyogle!

Kyogle Council's Christmas tree received 36% of the vote to be crowned the best Northern Rivers Christmas tree.

Kyogle mayor Danielle Mulholland said she was not surprised that their tree had made the top of the list.

"I think it's a beautiful tree and the vote reflects that," she said.

"We've had a lot of positive feedback on it.

"Around Christmas, having a community Christmas tree - in know not everyone celebrates Christmas and I respect that - it represents the community spirit. It brings everyone together."

Coming in second place was Casino's tree with 33% of the vote, followed by Lismore's recycled tree with 22% of the vote.

Ballina's unofficial tree not decorated this year

The Christmas tree featured in our gallery in a 2014 file photo (the Norfolk Pine tree outside the Visitor Information Centre) will not actually be decorated this year, Ballina Shire Council revealed.

Instead a fig tree on the corner of River and Cherry Streets has been decorated, due to its "health and position within the CBD precinct" a spokesperson said.

MONDAY 1.30pm: IT'S your last chance to vote for your favourite Northern Rivers Christmas tree.

At the present time, Kyogle's tree is shining bright in our poll with 38% of the votes.

Kyogle mayor Danielle Mulholland has been encouraging locals on Facebook to vote for Kyogle's festive tree.

"We're coming second in the Christmas tree comp - share share share!!! And don't forget to vote! I would ask that all my friends on my FB page have a look at the trees so they know Kyogle's is the best!" she posted.

Coming in second place with 33% of the votes is Casino.

But it's not over yet - you have until midnight tonight to cast your vote below!
