A $10,000 donation from a local business is about to make the lives of cancer sufferers and their families a whole lot easier.

Lismore-based Fairfull Financial Services has allocated a $10,000 AMP donation to the NSW Cancer Council’s Relay for Life which is on today at the Southern Cross University Sports Field.

The donation will go towards constructing a commercial kitchen at Our House, a facility being built in Lismore that will provide accommodation to families of cancer patients in hospital.

Sandra Evans and daughter Tahlia, who is in remission from leukaemia, knows what it’s like to travel back and forth for cancer treatment.

“Tahlia was four-and-a-half when she was diagnosed with leukaemia and we had to relocate to Brisbane for six months for her treatment, leaving my husband and 14-month-old baby here,” Mrs Evans said.

“There is a lot of strain, an extra burden and immense pressure when your family is split.

Having an Our House in Lismore means people won’t have to be separated from their families.”

Fairfull Finacial Services founder Peter Fairfull had a special interest in the donation due to his own experience with his niece’s leukaemia.
