IT’S BEEN 17 years since Wyrallah Road Public School in Lismore has held a fete or carnival, so this year they are going to do it in style.
Parents, staff and students have been planning this Sunday’s Family Fun Day for 12 months.
And from the list of activities and events on the agenda, it’s clear it will not disappoint.
Relive the fun of old-fashioned fetes and carnivals with fairy floss, a Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, a chocolate wheel, and much more.
One of the organisers, Trish Bailey, said it was going to be a spectacular event.
“It is aimed at promoting positive family experiences and offering kids a taste of old-fashioned fun,” she said.
“The fetes and carnivals we remember as kids are hard to find these days.
“When the opportunity comes along to let our kids laugh and clown around the way we did as kids, parents flock to it.
“The day promises to be full of good old-fashioned fun and a day the kids will remember for a long time.”
Also on offer on the day will be showbags, kids’ activities, guest appearances by police and rescue services, entertainment, arts and craft, food and prizes.
The Family Fun Day kicks off at 10am at Wyrallah Road Primary School in Wyrallah Road at East Lismore.
The event will wind up about 3pm.
“It’s going to be a massive community day,” Ms Bailey said. “We’ve also got a major raffle to be drawn, and that’s worth about $3000.
“There will be an art gallery – all of the kids have made something to be displayed.
“We also have plenty of activities for the kids, including laser skirmish for the older kids, and a tea and coffee room for the older generation.
“There’s face-painting, temporary tattoos, entertainment, Zumba demonstrations and a barbecue with sausages and steak sandwiches.
“The day will have something for everyone, so we really hope lots of people will come down and enjoy it.”
