APARTMENTS will soon be available for viewing in a massive luxury residential tower just outside the Toowoomba CBD.
Inspire South Central on the intersection of Ruthven and Perth Sts is expected to be finished in May, with scaffolding getting pulled off the sides of the building.
The ambitious project, which will include 25 units along with retail, office and cafe tenancies, is being backed by Toowoomba developer Barry Bernoth.
LJ Hooker Toowoomba chief operations officer Jeremy Lewis said the two-bedroom, two-bathroom units were already attracting plenty of attention from both owner-occupiers and outside investors.
"We're probably about six weeks from being able to have a couple of the apartments in a position where we can style them, so people can touch and feel the quality of these apartments," he said.
"The interest has been pretty consistent, which is brilliant - we've had mixed interest from owner-occupiers right through to investors.
"We're seeing interest from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, based on the strength of our economy."
Mr Bernoth said he was thrilled to see the development taking shape.
"We've seen architects' designs and the artists' impressions, but it's been pleasing to actually see the building (turn into) what we expected," he said.
"I'm fairly pleased with the progress and the way that it looks.
"There's a lot of finishing off work to be done, but the structure is done and it's presenting the way it's going to look."
The upcoming completion of the development comes as the Toowoomba Regional Council revealed there were no new units built in the month of December, continuing a low production trend that persisted across 2019.
Mr Bernoth said unit quantity and quality was an important factor, arguing that Inspire South Central was introducing a different type of accommodation to the Toowoomba market.
"I think that there was a time, going back 18 months, where we had a glut of units, and you go through a wave where a lot of units are being built," he said.
"We've only got 25 units and we've got an area of 120,000 people, and these units do offer living that's relatively close to the CBD, with some views and height.
"These units a little bit different to the normal units, (in that) they're two-bedroom, two-bathroom.
"Most of them come with two car parks, so it appeals to investors as well.
"They'll appeal for rental markets, as well as appeal to owner-occupiers."
