Aussie netball star Laura Geitz has accepted an offer that’s $100k less than she wanted for her childhood home when it was first listed pre-covid.
The home, which is one of two legacy properties listed to her, is in the quaint town of Allora in Queensland’s Darling Downs region. It was originally listed for sale at $420,000 in January last year but the Firebirds legend and former national netball captain agreed to a reduced price of $320,000 after almost a year on the market.
The deal settled last month, after she dropped the asking price mid-last year to $399,000 before agreeing to $320,000 in November last year.
Ms Geitz credited her hometown for a great childhood – including playing representative netball for the region’s under-15 and under-17 sides.
She had originally expressed a desire to have her children have a taste of that life as well. But after a renovation on the property, Ms Geitz decided it was time to sell the home in January 2020.
Ms Geitz co-owns two houses in Brisbane with husband Mark Gilbride – a $2.2m Queenslander in Brookfield and a $1.005m one in Bulimba.
Their sons Barney and Frank still have a taste of country style living in their sprawling Brookfield estate in Brisbane, and CoreLogic records show another 107.92 hectare legacy estate listed to the netball role model in Hendon.
