It’s the house that had Hollywood stars falling over themselves when it was listed for sale three years ago, and now it’s tipped to attracted even more interest as it hits the market again.
Blackwood House, nestled on the Broken Head ridgeline between Lennox Head and Byron Bay, is as ritzy as they come.
Bourne franchise superstar Matt Damon and wife Luciana Barroso rented Blackwood House for $5500 a week for four months in early 2018.
They were already familiar with the luxury property ‒ Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus also rented it during their stay in Australia ‒ and the house next door was leased by Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky while their nearby multimillion property was built.
The home last sold for $3.8 million in October 2018.
It was widely rumoured at the time that Damon had bought it, but it in fact sold to an Australian author who moved to the Northern Rivers from Sydney.
At the time, the selling agents received interest from plenty of Hollywood celebrities, including Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen and Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.
Now the exclusive property is on the market again.
The home, at 78 Owenia Way, Broken Head, is on 58ha and the main house has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a separate studio.
Listing agents Karin Heller and Kim Jones from Kollosche Broadbeach described it as the “pinnacle of peace, privacy and prestige with uninterrupted ocean views … in an enclave the Hollywood elite call home”.
“Never to be built out, these panoramas stretch endlessly before you, where you can watch the whales as they migrate or the surf breaking against the shore,” the online listing states.
“It’s also a sanctuary of tranquillity, spoiling you with mesmerising sunsets across the Byron hinterland.
“The heated pool with cabana is another ideal place to soak up the seascape, while indoors, views follow you throughout the contemporary residence.
“Featuring bespoke finishes, gleaming polished concrete floors combine with the warmth of timber to add a modern ambience, while large slider doors peel back for a seamless integration between the handcrafted kitchen, lounge and dining zone and the outdoors.”
Blackwood House is for sale by expressions of interest, closing at 5pm on August 18.
