Wanted man who led police on dramatic Ballina chase fronts court

The 31-year-old who was caught by police dogs in Ballina on Thursday has been charged with dealing with the proceeds of a crime worth just under $100,000.

A Northern Rivers man who led police on a dramatic chase across Ballina has fronted court after being arrested.

Leon Edward King, 31, fronted Lismore Local Court on Friday via video link.

Mr King is charged with dealing with the proceeds of a crime worth just under $100,000, unlawful entry of enclosed land and possessing a prohibited drug.

Richmond Police co-ordinated a response in Ballina on Thursday afternoon about 3pm to catch Mr King, who was wanted by virtue of a prison warrant.

The manhunt closed in at Catherine Cres, where several dog squads and officers managed to stop Mr King.

The matter was adjourned for Ballina Local Court on June 6.

Mr King did not apply for bail and bail was refused.
