A truck driver has died after his rig collided with a car before flipping on a stretch of highway south of Lismore in the state’s north.
At about 4.15pm on Monday, emergency services were called to the Pacific Mwy, New Italy, 46kms south of Lismore.
Richmond Police District officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene to find a Pantech truck had collided with a car before rolling.
Paramedics treated the female driver of the car, 40, before she was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with minor injuries and shock.
The truck driver – a 39-year-old man – could not be revived and died at the scene.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
One northbound lane of the Pacific Highway was closed before reopening later on Monday evening.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
