Teens facing drug, Covid charges
Two 19 year olds came to police attention when they were discovered at a beachside carpark and now they face charges involving drugs and non compliance of public health orders.

Two teenagers who apparently did not think that Covid compliance orders applied to them were arrested at a Northern Rivers beach carpark in the early hours of Sunday morning.
On Sunday 15 August 2021, Richmond Police District Inspector Bill McKenna said the pair were discovered by officers undertaking compliance patrols along the coast.
“Shortly after midnight at about 12,20am on Sunday, police conducting patrols around Ballina and Lennox Head attended the Shelly Beach and noticed a couple of cars there.” he said,
“The police spoke with two 19 year old males and a vehicle was searched.
“Police located a large amount of cannabis, cocaine, a quantity of cash and what they will allege is Ketamine and LSD.”
Mr McKenna the two men were arrested and taken to Ballina Police Station.
“The 19 year old men have been charged with a number of offences including apply, dealing with the proceeds of crime and not complying with Public Health Orders,” he said.
“The two men were granted conditional bail will face Ballina Local Court on August 25.”
