A Mullumbimby man will face trial for allegedly wounding someone he did not know.

Ron Asaf Kohen, 47, was arraigned in Lismore District Court on Monday.

He pleaded not guilty to wounding Robert Holbrook with intent to cause grievous harm on the morning on September 25, 2020.

He also pleaded not guilty to an alternative charge of reckless wounding.

Mr Kohen previously told Byron Bay Local Court he didn’t know the alleged victim and said there was no wrongdoing on his part, yet he had faced “an avalanche of trouble”.

Mr Kohen was not in court in person on Monday but appeared on a video link.

The Crown prosecutor said there was still some civilian witness evidence outstanding.

“There’s significant outstanding requisitions,” she said.

“If those requisitions are answered it could be a five to seven day trial, if not answered it will probably be a four day trial.”

Judge Warwick Hunt adjourned the matter until April 8, 2022.

Mr Kohen’s trial was scheduled to start on May 30, 2022.
