A Northern Rivers woman who allegedly was involved in the importation of a commercial quantity of liquid ecstasy will be allowed to enter a Queensland rehab despite being charged with more drug-related offences while on bail.

Pottsville resident Jemma Eadie, 22, faced Lismore District Court on Friday for a bail review mention.

Ms Eadie has been charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of the border-controlled drug gamma butyrolactone (GBL), unlawfully imported.

Police will allege the offending took place between April and June, 2020, in Bega, NSW.

The court had previously heard that Queensland officers of the Australian Federal Police had led an investigation of Ms Eadie.

She is set to stand trial on the drug charge in January 2022.

Her solicitor, Philip Crick, on Friday applied to have her bail address changed from Pottsville to a Toowoomba rehabilitation clinic.

He said Ms Eadie would still be able to attend the trial if given the new Teen Challenge New Life Centre address.

However, Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions prosecutor Josh Inan held concerns given Ms Eadie’s alleged behaviour on bail and strong connection to Queensland.

“Ms Eadie also (allegedly) committed a number of offences while on bail for this offence including intimidation of a witness,” he said.

“As recent as two weeks ago, she was charged for driving with an illicit drug in her system.”

He said the driving charges had stemmed as a result of a crash and noted Ms Eadie had not entered pleas.

He also said a Queensland civilian witness would be called during trial which could affect the bail application.

“If the rehabilitation was in NSW the Crown would likely not oppose that,” he said.

“Significant resources would be required from another state.”

Mr Crick acknowledged Ms Eadie had been suspended from the first rehabilitation centre for a “scuffle” with another resident over a stolen hair band.

He said she had since written to apologise and had been allowed to re-enter in January.

“In relation to the most recent charge, I would suggest that strengthens the application to go to rehabilitation,” Mr Crick said.

Judge Warwick Hunt said Ms Eadie had been on “stringent” bail conditions but granted the bail variation.
