A 19-year-old Northern Rivers man has fronted court and been granted conditional bail over an alleged violent armed robbery.

Dale Hope appeared before Lismore Local Court on Wednesday, charged with armed robbery, robbery in company and escaping police custody.

According to court documents, police will allege Mr Hope stole $110 and 11 bottles of alcohol from a Goonellabah resident on Friday, June 4.

Police allege in the documents that Mr Hope approached the woman between 8.30-9pm on the Saturday night with a silver folding pocket knife while attempting to rob her alongside a co-accused man.

He then allegedly attempted to escape custody after being arrested for the two prior charges.

The court heard Mr Hope’s solicitor Belinda Claire O’Dwyer asked that he be granted conditional bail due to a mild intellectual disability.

While he currently lives with his grandmother in Goonellabah, the court heard planned move to Wollongbar to live with his partner.

Magistrate Jeff Linden granted Mr Hope conditional bail on the basis he doesn’t contact the alleged victim or co-accused and be on good behaviour.

Mr Hope is yet to enter any formal pleas.

His matters will appear before the court for a brief service mention on August 11.

His co-accused is yet to appear before court.
