A concreter who moonlighted as "sous chef” for a flourishing Sunshine Coast drug business has been sentenced to four and a half years jail.

A CONCRETER who moonlighted as "sous chef" for a flourishing Sunshine Coast drug business has been sentenced to four and a half years jail.

Shaun Ian Gordon, 37, cooked methyl-amphetamine for his brother Stuart Gordon who is serving a 10 years sentence for running the elaborate drug operation from a Kin Kin property.

Brisbane Supreme Court heard the business, which supplied to a wider Sunshine Coast drug ring, ran successfully for five years until it was shut down by police in April, 2014.

Gordon had made the mistake of helping out his brother for six weeks when he was arrested along with chief cook Adam Carstein who was also sentenced to four and a half years jail earlier this year.

He pleaded guilty on Wednesday to trafficking and producing a dangerous drug.

Gordon's father was in court to support him.

Justice Roslyn Atkinson said it must be distressing for him to have two sons in jail and warned Gordon that if he continued to use drugs he would spend much of his life behind bars.

Gordon will be released on parole in May, 2018 but a suspended jail sentence will hang over his head for five years.

His brother must serve 80% of his 10-year sentence before he is eligible to apply for parole.
