Men charged over South Coast armed robbery extradited to face court in Tweed Heads

Police have extradited two men from Queensland to face charges of armed robbery after the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad investigates the incident on the South Coast.

Two men have been extradited from Queensland and will face Tweed Heads Local Court in relation to an alleged armed robbery at a registered club on July 25, 2019.

An ongoing investigated has resulted in two men extradited from Queensland and charged over alleged armed robbery which occurred in Sussex Inlet in 2019.

NSW Police announced on Friday two men had been extradited from Queensland and charged over an alleged armed robbery on the state’s south coast in 2019.

The State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Dalwood to investigate an armed robbery at a registered club in Sussex Inlet, about 40km south of Nowra, at about 10.30pm on Thursday, July 25, 2019.

Police will allege in court the two men forced entry to the premises – one armed with a firearm and sledgehammer, the other armed with a machete and sledgehammer – and threatened six staff members, before locking them in a room and stealing cash.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives, with the assistance of the Queensland Police Service, travelled to two addresses in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast where they arrested two men – aged 34 and 43 – about 10am on Wednesday.

The men were taken to Southport Magistrates Court, where detectives applied for, and were granted, an extradition to NSW.

The pair were remanded in custody before being taken to Tweed Heads Police Station about 11.30am on Thursday.

Both men were both charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.

They were refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today.

Police said investigations under Strike Force Dalwood are continuing.
