Man who allegedly left partner ‘comatose’, faces trial for aggravated sexual assault
The Northern Rivers man will stand trial for an alleged sexual assault, which prosecutors claim left his victim “haemorrhaging” from the injuries.

A man who allegedly left his partner in a “comatose state” after a horrorific sexual assault will head to a District Court trial.
The man, who cannot be named, appeared in person in Lismore Local Court on Wednesday, July 28 in regards to serious domestic violence allegations.
Those included aggravated sexual assault resulting in actual bodily harm and causing reckless grievous bodily harm.
The court previously heard the DPP prosecutor would allege the man’s victim suffered “extensive injuries” and arrived at hospital in a “comatose state” and “haemorrhaging”.
The DPP prosecutor also previously mentioned that medical evidence in the case was “very complex”.
On Wednesday, the court heard DPP were ready to proceed those two charges to a Lismore District Court trial.
Magistrate Jeff Linden ordered the matter be adjourned for arraignment in Lismore District Court on August 30.
The man remains on bail.
