A 19-year-old man will face upgraded charges in court today after a man he allegedly assaulted at a unit last weekend died in hospital from his injuries.

A man will face serious charges in court on Friday after another man, who he allegedly assaulted last week, died in hospital.
Tweed Byron Police said the 20-year-old’s death came after a serious assault around 9pm on Saturday, June 12.
Emergency services had been called to a unit on Kennedy Drive, Tweed Heads West, following reports a man had been assaulted.
The 20-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Tweed Heads Hospital in a critical condition.
Officers from Tweed Byron Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A 19-year-old man, known to the older man, was arrested at the scene and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm (DV).
Police were advised the 20-year-old died of his injuries on Tuesday.
The younger man has since been additionally charged with assault causing death.
He remains on conditional bail to next appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Friday.
