Kye Aylward charged with helping son Rayne Aylward after alleged murder of Casino teen Ned Gronow

The father of the young man charged with brutally stabbing northern NSW teen Ned Gronow to death is set to fight allegations he helped his son after the crime.

The father of the man charged with brutally stabbing Casino teenager Ned Gronow to death will mount a defence against allegations he helped his son after the murder.

Kye Douglas Aylward, 47, faced Lismore Local Court on Wednesday, charged with accessory after the fact to murder and concealing a serious indictable offence.

His son, Rayne William Aylward, 19, has been accused of stabbing Ned, 17, in the neck after going to the younger teen’s Casino home during the night.

Neither the father or his son have entered pleas.

Ned was asleep when he was stabbed in the neck while his mother slept nearby.

Police officers were called to Ned’s McDougall St home about 1.20am, found the teen suffering from critical wounds and he could not be saved.

The alleged events leading to Ned’s death have not yet been aired by police in court.

Police allege the dad knew his son murdered Ned and harboured him between June 25 and June 27 last year.

Mr Aylward, of Ulmarra, faced court on bail after spending several months in custody on remand.

His solicitor, James Fuggle, told the court two witnesses would be brought to give evidence before the matter was committed to a higher court.

Mr Aylward has until the end of the month to file evidence.

Meanwhile, Tanner Park, a friend of the murder accused, has also been charged with concealing a serious indictable offence – the alleged murder. He is yet to enter a plea.
