Discussions were ongoing in the case of a South Lismore man accused of a serious assault.

Jeffrey Desmond Swarzes, 41, was not required to appear in Lismore Local Court during his Wednesday, July 14 mention.

The South Lismore man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in the company of the others.

According to court documents, the offence relates to an incident on August 14, 2020 at South Lismore where Mr Swarzes allegedly seriously assaulted a resident between 12pm-6pm that day.

The assault stemmed from Mr Swarzes allegedly demanding $250 from the South Lismore man.

It was not known if the alleged victim was known to Mr Swarzes.

During his Wednesday mention, solicitor Hannah Donaldson said a previous case conference with the Department of Public Prosecutions was successfully held on July 12 where a plea offer was made to Mr Swarzes.

“I can confirm the defence will accept the offer by the DPP,” she said.

The matter was adjourned to let further discussions continue, and Mr Swarzes will return to court on August 11.

He will appear via video link on that date.
