A Canterbury-Bankstown man has pleaded guilty after he was busted trying to move a whopping 145kg of cannabis over the Queensland-New South Wales border at Tweed Heads.

Police uncovered more than 50 vacuum-sealed bags full of the illicit drug stashed in one hot water system and 47 more in a second system, while more than 80 bags were found in a toolbox during a stop at the border on Griffith St, court documents stated.

In total, the bags weighed up to a touch more than 145kg.

The court was previously told the self-employed delivery driver informed officers he had been paid $2200 in cash to transport items from South Australia to a Forest Lake address in Queensland.

Documents showed Tran had been in NSW, Victoria, South Australia and returned to NSW, before trying to cross into Queensland.

It was alleged in court documents at the time Mr Tran told police: “If you let me go and follow me, I will lead you to what you’re looking for” and “it will make the news”.

The court heard on Monday that Tran had no NSW criminal history.

Tran’s bail will continue until May 5 when he will appear at Parramatta district court for sentence.
