A woman has fronted a Northern Rivers court after allegedly assaulting a man and his four-year-old daughter twice in the same day.

The woman, 27, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced Lismore Local Court on Thursday charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV) and stalk and intimidate as to cause fear of physical harm.

On Wednesday at about 1.45pm, police were called to an address in Casino following reports of alleged domestic violence.

Officers at the scene were told a man, 34, and his daughter, 4, were allegedly assaulted by a woman known to the pair.

Reports to police mentioned the pair were also allegedly assaulted at 4am the same day at a different address in Goonellabah.

The father and daughter were taken to Casino Hospital for hand and facial injuries, respectively.

Police arrested the woman at about 6.30pm on Wednesday where was taken to Lismore Police Station and charged. She was subsequently refused bail.

In court on Thursday, the woman’s defence solicitor told the court she had a troubled upbringing and issues with drugs.

She said she was a full-time carer and there had been a number of deaths in the family over the last four weeks.

Defence sought bail for the woman, saying she had strong ties to her community and has a support network in place.

Magistrate Dakin looked over submitted photographs from the prosecution and reminded the court the woman was charged with a serious offence.

He said she assaulted a man in the early hours of the morning, who she clearly had a difficult relationship with.

“But there were children there, a 4-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy,” Magistrate Dakin said.

“Police state she was hostile and aggressive.”

The court heard she locked the 34-year old father outside the Goonellabah home and allegedly told him he’d be “better off dead”.

He added that the woman had a propensity for violence and denied her bail.

She is due to reappear in Lismore court on July 29.

No pleas have been entered.
