Fresh assault charge added to case of alleged Nimbin shooter

Police will allege they located a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to the leg after responding to reports from concerned residents.

A young man charged over a frightening shooting in Nimbin has been mentioned in court with new charges relating to the incident.

Codie Hartman Bradley, 20, had a fresh charge of DV-related common assault mentioned in Lismore Local Court on Monday, August 16.

His solicitor Belinda Claire O’Dwyer said he would enter a not guilty plea to the charge.

The court heard the Department of Public Prosecutions had elected to take carriage of the matter.

According to the police prosecutor, the charge was related to the July 23 shooting in Nimbin and asked for a brief service mention.

“It’s related to the shooting allegation from Nimbin,” he said.

“Police were attending in regards to that matter when this common assault was disclosed to police.”

Police will allege they located a man in his 20s on Thorburn St, Nimbin with a gunshot wound to the leg following reports of gunshots on July 23.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being transported to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Mr Bradley was arrested in East Lismore about 12.15pm on July 31.

He currently faces two prior charges including discharging a firearm intending to cause grievous bodily harm and firing a firearm in or near public place.

He is yet to enter any formal pleas for them.

Magistrate Michael Dakin adjourned the matter for mention on September 29.

Mr Bradley remains in custody.
