Disqualified driver who was 7 times over the limit arrested and refused bail
A man who was allegedly more than seven times over the legal limit had also been banned from driving. Police arrested him in a North Coast shopping centre car park.

Police have charged a man with high-range drink driving after h was allegedly caught more than seven times the legal limit near Tweed Heads on Sunday.
Tweed/Byron Police District reported that about 3.30pm on Sunday, May 2, a white Holden Commodore was travelling through the car park of a shopping complex on Leisure Drive, Banora Point, near Tweed Heads, when it allegedly collided with a Toyota hatchback.
Nobody was injured in the collision.
Police were called and when they attended a short time later they spoke with the driver of the Holden, a 45-year-old man.
He was subject to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.
The man was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station for a breath analysis, which allegedly returned a reading of 0.359.
Police inquiries identified the man was previously the holder of a NSW driver’s licence and was disqualified from driving until 2024 due to high range drink driving offences.
The man was also in possession of a Queensland driver’s licence that police will allege was illegally obtained.
He was charged with drive with high range drink driving, driving a car during a disqualification period and not mentioning his disqualification in a licence application.
The man was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today (Monday May 3).
