A Northern Rivers man is among those recently charged for participating in the Sydney anti-lockdown riots.

David Christopher Wilson, 60, a self described ‘biohacker’, was charged after attending the rally in Sydney.

The Northern Rivers resident was not subject to strict stay-at-home orders because he lives outside of a hotspot, but has since exposed himself by travelling to Sydney for the protest.

He is accused of assaulting a police officer and refusing to wear a face mask.

Mr Wilson on Sunday entered a plea of not guilty for both charges.

He was granted bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court again on August 10.

NSW Police say 58 people have been charged after attending the anti-lockdown protest in Sydney on Sunday, July 25 and that a strike force has been established to identify others, with more arrests expected.

Officers issued more than 130 infringement notices to people at the demonstration for breaching public health orders.

A small protest was also held in Byron Bay where nine people were arrested.
