Confronting scenes of an anti-lockdown protest in Lismore have been shared after 11 protesters were arrested across the region.

According to a NSW Police spokeswoman, officers were called to an unauthorised protest at Lismore Council Chambers about 9.15am Tuesday.

“Officers observed about 70 people in attendance, who were spoken to in relation to breaches of the public health orders,” she said.

During that time, a 42-year-old man was issued multiple move-on directions by police and failed to comply.

“During his arrest, the man allegedly resisted, pushing a male senior officer before attempting to run from the area,” the spokeswoman said.

He was taken to Lismore Police Station and charged with resisting an officer in the execution of duty, failing to comply with direction and three counts of not complying with a direction.

Protesters filmed the arrest and shared a video across social media platforms.

In the video, protesters can be heard yelling “stop” and “get off him”.

At one point, the man tells officers “to get the f***ing things off me”, referring to the handcuffs.

According to the spokeswoman, the East Lismore man was granted conditional bail to appear at Lismore Local Court on Monday, September 6.

A further three women were also charged over alleged breaches of the public health order.

They were granted bail to also appear before Lismore Local Court on September 6.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing, with police reviewing body worn vision and mobile phone footage to identify any further offences.

As part of statewide protests on Tuesday, 11 protesters across Lismore Council, Kyogle Council and Ballina Council regions were arrested.

A further 24 fines were issued.
