Bailey James Fraser in Lismore court over intimidating police

Magistrate unleashes at the 19-year-old who called cops “f*****g dogs” before telling one officer he’d rape their daughter.

A young dad has narrowly avoided harsher punishment after unleashing a drunken attack on police calling them “f*****g dogs”, before telling one officer he’d rape their daughter.

A Lismore magistrate was so angered by the “ vile” and “atrocious” threats he adjourned proceedings at one point for a short recess.

Bailey James Fraser, 19, faced sentencing in Lismore Local Court on Monday, pleading guilty to intimidating a police officer in the execution of duty, three counts of breaching a community corrections order and two counts of breaching a community release order.

In the early hours of June 19, Fraser and a group of friends were driving along Richmond Hill Rd when the car crashed, the court heard.

Rather than waiting for an ambulance or police, the group ran away and called a taxi for an injured friend.

By the time a taxi arrived, police were also at the crime scene and flagged down the taxi.

Inside the taxi, police described Fraser as being “aggressive” and intoxicated.

He then began a series of threats, telling one officer “you stopped us, you live around here, that’s all I need to know” multiple times.

Fraser then threw his jacket on the ground, revealing a large sum of cash, telling officers “your wife would love it”, inferring he was selling sex.

He continued to call the cops “f*****g dogs” before telling one officer he’d rape their daughter.

The threats he made were so “atrocious” they caused Magistrate Michael Dakin to pause proceedings when read.

“This is vile behaviour,” he said, before adjourning the matter.

“He ought to prepare himself.”

When he returned, Frasers’ solicitor Tess McLinden said the young man had been influenced by his friends and had recently become a dad to a five-month old girl.

Magistrate Dakin had stern words for Fraser and his stunt of “immature bravado”.

“Whether it’s hatred of police or alcohol fuelled bravado I don’t know but this crosses a line,” he said.

“If these people are influencing him, he needs to get away.

He mentioned the rape threat as one of a “whole new level” especially given the fact he was on conditional liberty at the time.

He convicted Fraser and sentenced him to a nine-month intensive corrections order.

As part of the conditions, Fraser was ordered to perform 100 hours of community service and abstain from alcohol.

“Wake up to yourself,” Magistrate Dakin warned him.
