One alleged member of a North Coast gang accused of a West Ballina carjacking fronted court on Friday.

Three members of the alleged criminal group “Loyal Crims” appeared for mention in Ballina Local Court on Friday.

Police will allege they thwarted the activities of the group in December.

They will allege the accused responsible for a number of serious crimes across Northern NSW.

The court heard Ashley Thistleton, 28, was granted Supreme Court bail on February 1.

She faced the court in person.

The Goonellabah woman has been charged with aggravated robbery in company, drug supply, damaging property by fire, participating in a criminal group activity, robbery in company and drug possession.

Police will allege Ms Thistleton was involved in an assault and carjacking in West Ballina on October 30 and the torching of a Range Rover.

Her co-accused Beau Smith, 34, and Glen Pender, 35, were also mentioned in court but were not required to appear via videolink.

Ms Thistleton’s de facto partner Mr Smith, has been charged with aggravated robbery in company, ice supply, damaging property by fire, participating in a criminal group, ice possession and robbery in company.

Mr Pender, from Rosebank, is facing charges of robbery in company, aggravated robbery in company, ice supply, supplying a prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, participating in a criminal group and two separate domestic violence offences.

The court heard Mr Smith would move from Aboriginal Legal Services representation to Legal Aid.

Police prosecutor Sgt Scott asked for a four week adjournment to make the brief of evidence compliant.

She told the court she anticipated the Director of Public Prosecutions would take all of the charges of the three co-accused as evidence tendered would relate to all charges.

“There’s not much left in the brief, mainly the transcript of things,” Sgt Scott said.

All three will return to Ballina Local Court on March 11 for service compliance mention.

Another co-accused is Ballina man Rodney Jason Denyer, 50, who is facing 20 charges including several counts of drug supply, participating in a criminal group activity, eight counts of possessing or attempting to possess a prescribed restricted substance and weapons charges, including possession of a handgun style gel blaster and Taser.

He has pleaded guilty to two cannabis possession charges.

Mr Denyer’s matter did not go before the court this week but his lawyer said in December he would strongly deny the remaining allegations.

Mr Denyer is due to return to Ballina Local Court on Thursday, February 17.
