AN AMPUTEE said he is “only human” and “doesn’t like being pushed around” when he faced court this week over a fight outside a Dalby pub.

Father of four Shane David Duncan appeared on two charges in the Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

On July 6, police were conducting patrols along Cunningham St at 2.30am when they were flagged down by security at the Russell Tavern.

Police observed Duncan on the ground, fighting with security.

Before the fight, Duncan had been socialising outside the Russell Tavern when a group of men started to harass him about his amputated arm.

Duncan used threatening language and approached the group when security intervened, which is what led to a fight.

While speaking with police Duncan was yelling and swearing at the group of men outside tavern, then yelled at one man “If I get a clear path I’ll come right at you”.

Duncan was arrested for public nuisance and while being escorted to the police vehicle, resisted by wrapping his upper arm around a pole.

He was asked multiple times to stop resisting.

When asked to enter the police vehicle, Duncan swore at the police officer and said he would “fu—ing wreck” him.

Representing himself, Duncan told the court he acted out of stupidity after years of being pushed around about his amputated arm.

“I have been pushed around with my arm a lot since I’ve had it and I don’t take kindly … I’m still a human being, I’m still a man and I don’t like to be pushed around,” he said.

Duncan pleaded guilty to one count of commit public nuisance in the vicinity of a licenced premises and one of obstruct police licenced premises. He was fined $500 for the two offences.
