Alleged armed robber, Nigel Willacy, given bail for mental health conditions

A 22-year-old man who allegedly robbed a Lismore service station wielding a knife has been granted bail due to mental health conditions.
Mr Willacy fronted Lismore Local Court on Wednesday via Clarence Correctional Facility video link.
Nigel Willacy was arrested in late April over allegations he entered a service station on Dawson Street, Lismore, and allegedly threatened a 53-year-old male attendant.
Mr Willacy allegedly demanded cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene on foot.
Two days later, he attended Lismore Police Station where he was arrested.
He was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
He is also charged with possessing a prohibited drug.
The court heard during a previous appearance, a psychiatric assessment was issued due to “concerns” over Mr Willacy’s mental health.
Given that, Mr Willacy’s solicitor Hannah Donaldson submitted a bail application.
Magistrate Jeff Linden granted the bail application with conditions, including that he report frequently, not drink alcohol or take drugs, engage with a NDIS support worker and take all prescribed medication.
A further brief service mention was also scheduled for July 28.
