A young Northern Rivers man is readying for a trial after pleading not guilty to alleged involvement in a chaotic KFC brawl which left a 17-year-old boy dead.
Canberra teen Lachlan Andrews died during the violent fracas on May 29 last year.
Aaron Pocklington, 20, of Lismore had his case raised in Lismore District Court on Wednesday.
He has been charged with affray and using an offensive weapon in company with intent to commit an indictable offence.
It’s alleged he targeted Lachlan and that an arranged meeting between groups led to the brawl.
It comes as a 17-year-old boy, who cannot legally be identified, has been charged with murder, reckless wounding and affray.
The brawl in the fast food restaurant involved more than 20 people, some aged as young as 12.
Richmond Police District officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics came across multiple teens suffering stab wounds.
Lachlan suffered multiple stab wounds and died at the scene.
Judge Jonathan Priestley told the court on Wednesday the trial was due to be heard in late May next year.
“I note the trial will take between five and seven days,” he said.
“The accused will appear via AVL (audio visual link) for the trial to start May 27 next year.”
Pocklington remains on bail and he has to live at an East Lismore address.
He has been barred from entering the Casino KFC and ordered not to contact prosecution witnesses.
