COMMENT: Bowled over by Voices of the Northern Rivers series

OUR Voices of the Northern Rivers series is drawing to a close, but it is not over just yet.

OUR Voices of the Northern Rivers series is drawing to a close, but it is not over just yet.

We still have a couple of really interesting columns to come, including today's on cohousing and one on what we can expect from 'life after death'.

I was completely bowled over by offers from people wanting to write an opinion piece when I put the call out earlier this year.

We unearthed about 30 names and have selected about 15 to run on the opinions page to my right.

It has seen some spectacularly diverse opinions come forth and unearthed some columnists that may get a semi permanent gig in print or online.

It has been wonderful for me to 'curate' this series for our readers.

Again, it has confirmed that we have some of the best thinkers living in our region.

And the topics covered have ranged wildly from environmental campaigns to Grey Nomads who stopped in Casino and stayed.

Some of the writers are known to many of you or at least have been prolific letter writers from the past.

Others are new, some occupy positions of high importance such as Chris Crawford, the top health boss in our region.

Although Voices of the Northern Rivers is coming to a close, we have a couple of crackers coming up.

Then we will hand the space to the right back to our regular reader feedback from SMS, Facebook and our website.

I hope you have enjoyed this series and I'd love to hear from anyone who may want to have a go at writing a column in the future.

If we get enough interest, we can do it all again before the end of the year.
