IS it just me, or is there an element of the folk tale Chicken Little about the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union?

Will the sky really fall in because the UK leaves the EU?

After all, it only joined the European Economic Community, as it was then known, in 1973.

Prior to that it was its own little island country and it will be again.

It's always maintained its own currency and no doubt European countries will continue to trade with it, so what's the big deal? It just needs to unravel 43 years of history.

It's back to 1973 for the UK when Edward Heath was the Prime Minister, its Value Added Tax (VAT) came into existence and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon was released.

The only sad thing about Brexit is that our own election campaign in Australia is so boring, we'd rather talk about it than anything else going on in our own country.

You never know, Brexit could actually be GOOD for the Australian economy as we may pick up a little of their business should some European countries turn their backs on the UK.

Currently, the UK sits seventh on the list of our top trading partners behind China, Japan, United States, South Korea, Singapore and New Zealand.

While the Coalition Government here in Australia is calling for "stability" anything seems to go in the UK and the US where we could have two mop tops in Boris Johnson and Donald Trump in charge before too long.
