Online engagement session for Lismore Regional City Action Plan

What do you think Lismore needs within the next 20 years? A vital community engagement session will be held this week, and locals are being urged to have some input.

Attracting more national events to the regional sporting hub of Oakes Oval and Crozier Field such as the exciting match between then Gold Coast Titans and the New Zealand Warriors, is just one item on the agenda of the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment regarding community participation in the Lismore Regional City Action Plan. Bringing more sporting events to Lismore, opening up the Wilsons River waterfront, increasing the city’s artisitic and cultural events and increasing housing choices.

These are just some of the topics up for debate at an online workshop this week.

The event invites residents to put their ideas into words and share their dreams to help the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment to help shape the future of their area.

An online community engagement session on the Lismore Regional City Action Plan will be

held on Wednesday, June 9 at 5.30pm – and you're invited.

The Lismore Regional City Action Plan was released last month and includes 63 actions to

help the city thrive including:

• Bringing laneways to life;

• Opening up Wilsons River waterfront to the public;

• Expanding the city’s culture and arts scene;

• Attracting national events to the regional sporting hub; and

• Increasing housing choice.

The Department’s Executive Director of Local and Regional Planning, Monica Gibson is urging people to register for online information sessions to have their say on the future of

Lismore.

“The Lismore Regional City Action Plan is a 20-year vision for the city,” Ms Gibson said.

“Lismore is a key regional centre.

“Partnering with the community to plan for a future that sees the city bursting with jobs, investment and a vibrant lifestyle will help us get it right.”

Ms Gibson said anyone can participate in the online community workshop to discuss the vision and goals outlined in the draft plan and explore ideas and concerns that will inform the final Regional City Action Plan.

To register for the community workshop, visit the eventbrite website.
