A million-dollar plan for a new hotel in North Lismore has been revealed.
A development application has been lodged for a six-bedroom tourist and visitor accommodation site near the Rollerworld skating rink on Bridge Street.
Property records show the site was bought by Sydney company Arve Developments in October 2020 for $95,000.
Company documents show Arve Developments is directed by Michael Vergos, 24 and James Vergos, 32, who are both listed as living at a Terrey Hills address.
Planning documents submitted by Arve Developments to Lismore City Council say the building’s design is influenced by its proximity to the Wilson River and the site’s “status as flood prone land”.
It has been designed with openings to allow for water flow through the site.
“The proposal adopts six rooms and is a new tourist and visitor accommodation offering that will be largely managed remotely with contracted cleaners and an off-site management company that will manage bookings and the like,” the documents say.
“No staff members will be on-site during operations.
“The accommodation units will be operated via a lockbox through electronic means.”
The proposal comes after council officers raised concerns about a previous plans which involved building a 12-bedroom boarding house.
“The previous proposal has been withdrawn with the current development seeking council consent to undertake development of a small-scale hotel,” planning documents say.
The development is on exhibition until February 21.
Arve Developments has been contacted for comment.
