North Coast swimmers continue strong campaign in NSW Country Short Course Championships at Sydney Olympic Park

North Coast swimmers have continued their wave of success, winning dozens of medals in Sydney's NSW Country Short Course Championships. Here’s how it played out.

North Coast swimmers have continued their strong campaign in the water this year with top performances and placings at the NSW Country Short Course Championships.

The three-day event was held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre in Homebush from June 30 to July 3.

Swimming North Coast entered 64 swimmers into 311 events, plus five relays, nabbing 36 medals and 86 top ten placings.

The three top Swimming North Coast clubs points scorers were Alstonville, Coffs Harbour, and the Stroud Seals.

Top medal winners included 11-year-old Coffs Harbour sensation Coco Becker, who won gold in the 100m backstroke, and the 100m butterfly.

She also won silver in 100m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, and bronze in the 100m medley.

William Bradshaw, 16, from Stroud Seals won gold in the 100m backstroke, silver in the 200m medley and 100m butterfly, and bronze in the 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, and 50m freestyle.

Fellow seal Sebastian Webster, 13, won gold in the 100m breaststroke and silver in the 200m medley.

Macksville Marlin, and recent selectee for the Para Development squad, 16-year-old Ethan Blockey won gold in five events: 200m medley, 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle, and 100m butterfly.

Sophie Scislo, 13, of Forster won bronze in 100m butterfly and placed 5th in 100m freestyle.

Eva Keen, 14, of Forster won silver in 100m backstroke and placed 4th in 50m freestyle.

Alstonville Swimming Club

Eve Drew, 10, won bronze in the 200m medley, 100m butterfly, 100m freestyle. She placed 5th in the 100m backstroke, 6th in the 50m freestyle and 8th in the 100m breaststroke.

Abbey Yourell, 16, won bronze in the 800m freestyle, silver in the 1500m freestyle, and placed 6th in the 400m freestyle.

Ian Burgess, 13, won silver in the 100m butterfly, placed 7th in the 200m butterfly, and 10th in the 100m backstroke.

Hugo Atkinson, 10, won bronze in the 100m backstroke. He placed 4th in both the 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle, and placed 5th in the 50m freestyle.

Will Hensley won bronze in the 400m freestyle. He placed 4th in the 200m freestyle, 7th in 100m freestyle and 10th in 100m butterfly.

Alanna Bromhead, 15, won bronze in the 200m breaststroke. She placed 5th for 100m breaststroke, 7th in 200m medley, 4th in the 200m medley, and 7th for the 100m freestyle.

Alstonville’s women’s relay team, Niquola White, Abbie Yourell, Poppy Robinson and Alanna Bromhead, won silver in the 4x100m freestyle.
