Nimbin water still fine to drink says council

Lismore City Council is reassurring Nimbin residents their water is safe to drink after pipes at DE Williams dam failed.

Lismore City Council is reassuring Nimbin residents their water is safe to drink after pipes at DE Williams dam failed.

Mayor Jenny Dowell took to the Nimbin Hookups Facebook page to reassure locals this morning.

"Heads up Nimbin folk," Cr Dowell posted.

"Some pipes at DE Williams dam have failed and we are feeding water directly from Mulgum Creek weir to residents.

"Most people probably won't notice anything, but if you do have slightly coloured water, be assured it has been tested and is completely safe to drink.

"We are getting a diver to do repairs at DE Williams dam and hope to have it repaired by Thursday.

"Thanks for your patience while we get this fixed."
