NIMBIN is on full display in a new TV commercial to be shown throughout NSW and Queensland as part of the town's marketing campaign.
The Nimbin Marketing Campaign has been designed to boost tourism in Nimbin following the 2014 fires that destroyed the historic Nimbin Museum, The Rainbow Café, Tribal Magic and Bringabong.
The new TV commercial features local musician Andrea Soler and her song Daydreaming, with footage from her video clip filmed at Nimbin Bush Theatre.
The 15 and 30 second ads also feature imagery of beautiful places and fun things to do in and around Nimbin.
Lismore City Council's Tourism Services Coordinator Andrew Walker said the objective of the TV commercial was to capture some of Nimbin's unique 'magical' qualities.
"We wanted to overcome any negative perceptions or stereotypes and project an image of a vibrant, healthy community in a spectacularly beautiful place," Mr Walker said.
"The ads are intended to be fun, whimsical and light-hearted, and a positive affirmation of Nimbin's colourful, free-spirited lifestyle."
The TV commercial will be promoted on social media and shown on Prime during February throughout the Northern Rivers, Gold Coast and south-east Queensland, Newcastle and the New England area, with the aim of encouraging visitors to stay overnight.
"If we can get even 5% of our day visitors to spend one night, it would be a huge tourism boost for the whole area," Mr Walker said.
"The TV commercial is running concurrently with our Faces of Nimbin campaign, which features local people and their stories.
"We really feel that tapping into the wonderful diversity of Nimbin's community is what will make people want to stay and explore this part of the world for a little longer."
