NAIDOC Celebrations 2012 postponed

LISMORE City Council has once again postponed the date of this year’s Lismore Community NAIDOC Celebrations 2012 planned for Heritage Park.

LISMORE City Council has once again postponed the date of this year's Lismore Community NAIDOC Celebrations 2012 planned for Heritage Park.

Council's Community Development Officer Lee-Ann Emzin said the recent passing of a treasured Elder from Cabbage Tree Island, meant that the scheduled August 9 date was no longer appropriate.

"As a mark of respect to the Aboriginal community Council have made the decision to postpone the NAIDOC celebrations for another two weeks to Thursday, August 23," Lee-Ann said.

"I would like to express my appreciation to the NAIDOC organisers and stall holders for their flexibility at this time."

The Lismore community NAIDOC Celebrations 2012 will now be held on Thursday, August 23, from 10.00am to 2.00pm at Heritage Park.

For more information phone Lee-Ann Emzin on 1300 87 83 87.
