LISMORE mayor Jenny Dowell is preparing to glove up for Graffiti Removal Day this Sunday as part of her ongoing commitment to work towards a reduction in the incidence of tagging and vandalism in the Lismore area.

"It is very frustrating for our community, businesses and Council that there are a few thoughtless people who do such mindless damage to both private and public property," Cr Dowell said.

"It makes our town look untidy and also creates an unnecessary expense for individuals and our ratepayers, which is why I strongly support this joint initiative between the New South Wales Government and Rotary Down Under to get out and do something about it through Graffiti Removal Day."

Three Graffiti Removal Day locations have been nominated for the Lismore LGA including the eastern approach to the Ballina Street Bridge in Lismore, the Kadina Overpass in Ballina Road, Goonellabah, and a colourbond fence in front of a building located at 296 Molesworth Street, Lismore.

Members of the public are invited to help out with Graffiti Removal Day and can volunteer online up until the day of the event.

Graffiti Removal Day will be held this Sunday, September 23 from 9.30am to 4.00pm.

For more information or to volunteer phone 1300 66 53 10 or visit the website www.graffitiremovalday.org.au.
