Global macadamia heavyweight Marquis Macadamias, based near Lismore, is in line for a top international business gong.
The India Australia Business and Community Alliance (IABCA) has announced the company as a finalist in the 2024 IABCA Awards, which celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions to fostering the bilateral relationship between India and Australia.
This comes off the back of an extensive selection process involving 400 nominees spanning diverse sectors.
On January 25 the IABCA Jury and Advisory revealed the list of organisations and business leaders who have demonstrated excellence in promoting trade and investment opportunities between India and Australia.
Marquis Marketing managing director Don Ross said the company was “honoured” to be recognised as finalists in the IABCA Awards under the “Excellence in Trade and Investment” category.
“This nomination reflects our commitment to fostering meaningful trade relationships between India and Australia,” Mr Ross said.
“The Marquis Group is 100 per cent grower-owned. With two state-of-the-art factories in Australia, Marquis Macadamias processes over 23,000 tonnes of nut-in-shell annually.”
He said Marquis stood out as a nominee in the category for recognising organisations and projects that have generated significant trade and investment opportunities between India and Australia.
Spearheading the move of the Aussie nut to India, Marquis launched its first shipment of macadamias to India under the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) in November last year.
The awards ceremony will be held in August at The Great Hall, parliament of Australia, Canberra.
