TWO teenagers allegedly involved in the ‘lollipop gang’ home invasion at Casino on the weekend have been linked to a kidnapping in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta.

Byron Bay police responded to a call to Ocean Shores yesterday morning, where they arrested a 16-year-old from North Parramatta, a 14-year-old from Tweed Heads and a 13-year-old from Merrylands who were damaging private property.

Police also allege the three males are responsible for a bizarre home invasion at Casino on Sunday, where they entered an elderly couple’s home about 11am armed with Stanley knives, tied up the couple and stole their car after raiding their lolly jar and offering the victims some. The stolen car was found at Ocean Shores when the youths were arrested yesterday.

Richmond Local Area Command crime manager, Detective Inspector Greg Moore, said police had identified the 16-year-old and the 13-year-old as being linked to an incident in Parramatta last Tuesday where a man was assaulted, kidnapped and forced into his car and driven to Casino.

“At this stage our inquiries with Parramatta police indicate there are charges pending against two of these persons in relation to an incident where a 70-year-old Parramatta resident was assaulted, robbed and forced into his own vehicle and driven to the Casino area of NSW,” he said.

“It is quite unusual, the circumstances of this incident, and in particular the young ages of the persons alleged to be involved.”

The two teenagers linked to the kidnapping in Parramatta are facing 11 charges, including kidnapping and car jacking armed with intent, plus five other charges in relation to the home invasion in Casino. The 14-year-old is being charged with five offences in relation to the Casino home invasion.

The three youths will face the Lismore Children’s Court this morning.
