Two men have been charged over a string of robberies including an early morning smash-and-grab at a Lismore shopping centre.
The men, aged 22 and 28, allegedly shattered a window to enter the Lismore Square Shopping Centre on Brewster St at 5.30am on Wednesday and ransacked cash, jewellery and watches from several businesses.
No injuries were reported as police established several crime scenes.
Police said following “extensive inquiries” they swooped to arrest the men at a Byron Bay caravan park on Wednesday afternoon.
Following the execution of a search warrant on a cabin police allegedly seized items from several robberies committed at homes and businesses in Lismore, Ballina and Byron Bay over recent weeks.
The men were taken to Byron Bay Police Station where the 22-year-old was charged with three counts of aggravated break and enter into dwellings to commit robberies.
Meanwhile the 28-year-old was charged with nine offences including three counts of aggravated break and enter to rob dwellings, two counts of break and enter into houses with intent to steal, an attempted break and enter into another house and larceny.
The older man also had an outstanding warrant for alleged traffic and bail offences.
The men will appear before Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.
