Lismore realtor Jacob Glen Ford 29 to fight multiple child abuse charges

A Lismore real estate agent will fight allegations he intentionally sexually touched a child, and used a carriage service to procure a child for sexual activity and send indecent material.

A Northern Rivers real estate agent will fight multiple child abuse charges over allegations he sexually touched a child and sent indecent material to a child.

Jacob Glen Ford, 29, of Lismore, appeared for mention before Magistrate Michael Dakin in Lismore Local Court on Wednesday.

He is charged with three counts of intentionally sexually touching a child between the age of 10 and 16.

Ford also faces charges of using a carriage service to procure a child for sexual activity, and using a carriage service to send indecent material to a child.

Charges of using a carriage service to groom a child, grooming a child for unlawful sexual activity, and disseminating child abuse material have now been withdrawn.

It is alleged that between November 2023 and January 2024 Ford used a carriage service to transmit communication to a child under 16 years of age.

Police will also allege Ford did intentionally sexually touch the same child.

Furthermore they will allege Ford repeatedly sexually touched the child on a number of occasions over that time period.

Ford is also alleged to have used a carriage service to communicate with a child under 16 years old with the intention of procuring that child to engage in sexual activity.

Lastly police will allege in court Ford sent indecent images via Instagram to a child under 16 years of age.

Mr Dakin formally committed Ford for trial to the Lismore District Court.

He upheld Ford’s strict conditional bail where he must report once a week to police.

Ford must stay 100m from a residential North Coast address, an area school, and stay 100m from the premises of a former employer.

Mr Dakin forbade him from making contact with any prosecution witness or victims by any means.

Ford has not formally entered any pleas but is scheduled for arraignment in Lismore District Court on May 14 where a trial date is expected to be set.
