That's the message from Lismore City Council's Road Safety Officer, Lisa Marshall, in the lead up to the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

"There is the secure taxi rank on the corner of Keen and Molesworth Streets which operates every Friday and Saturday night from 11pm to 4am.

"This service will also be operational on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve from 10.30pm," she said.

"The Lismore Late Nighter is another option that is available every Saturday night, travelling between the CBD and Goonellabah for the affordable cost of only $3, which is cheaper than the costs of running your own car.

"This year the service will be running on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

"With so many transport options, and everything the community now knows about the dangers of mixing alcohol with driving, there is no excuse to drink and drive this festive season.

"Remember this holiday period, keep it simple, plan ahead, drive to the conditions, stay safe and enjoy the season."
