LISMORE mayor Jenny Dowell has shared a farewell message to council meetings as she prepares to retire after 12 years as a Lismore City Councillor.
"In an hour, I chair my last council meeting," she wrote on Facebook prior to the meeting.
"I stood in chambers a little while ago and felt a bit emotional having spent 12.5 years of meetings in this room."
Following the meeting, she gave her Facebook followers an update:
"Thank you all - the meeting went well and we all (2 absent- One overseas and 1 went to the Performing Arts festival where his daughter was performing) sat down with 5 staff with whom we work closest for dinner (a last supper) together," she wrote.
"It was a lovely evening. Thank you for the kind words Vanessa Ekins, Simon Clough, Isaac Smith and Glenys Ritchie."
