A man charged with threatening controversial Lismore councillor Big Rob and starting a fire at the politician’s home has appeared in court.
Shane Gregory Smith, 54, was mentioned before Lismore Local Court on Wednesday.
A two-year apprehended personal violence order was made for the protection of Big Rob from Smith following an alleged altercation on February 1.
Police will allege Smith went to Mr Rob’s Lismore home at about 10pm.
It will be alleged that Mr Rob was threatened by Smith when he opened the door.
According to court documents, Smith started a fire at the address, which was extinguished by Mr Rob, who called police.
Smith is charged with intimidation causing fear of harm, and destruction of property. No pleas have been entered.
Smith is not allowed to contact Mr Rob, or go within 100m of where the councillor lives or works.
He is also charged with another three stalk/intimidation charges that are unrelated to the alleged incident involving Mr Rob.
Smith is to appear before Lismore Local Court on Monday, March 13.
