Lismore City Council recognised by Environment Minister

LISMORE City Council has been announced as a Silver Partner and one of 27 organisations throughout the state to receive gold, silver or bronze partnership status.

LISMORE City Council has been announced by NSW Minister for the Environment Mark Speakman as a Silver Partner  for it's environmental efforts.

The council was one of 27 organisations throughout the state to receive gold, silver or bronze partnership status, and the first council to achieve Silver status.

LCC was recognised for its work across several fields including its biggest organisational goal - to self-generate all electricity from renewable resources by 2023 - Lismore mayor Jenny Dowell said.

Other measures that helped Lismore City Council achieve silver were the Renewable Energy Master Plan, the Lismore Community Solar Farm, the new Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and recycling revolution, and the Biodiversity Management Strategy.

"These organisations are leading the way, future-proofing their own operations and making a very significant contribution to the wider community, environment and economy," Mr Speakman said.
