After a prolonged hiatus the annual Lismore Business Awards were back on track at the Lismore Turf Club this August celebrating excellence, innovation, and resilience in the Lismore business community.
“We come together to recognise and honour the outstanding achievements of businesses that have persevered through challenges, embraced opportunities, and contributed to the growth and prosperity of our vibrant city,” Lismore Business Chamber secretary Felicity Hyde said.
70 local businesses donned their finest threads to mark the return of the awards night since its last inception in 2019.
Lismore business Joel Jensen Construction took home five category wins out of 24 including 2024 Business of the Year.
Mr Jensen was “blown away” with the number of awards honouring his company’s efforts during the Lismore rebuild effort.
After rebuilding their own company back up after the 2022 floods he said his company had a “role to play in the community”.
He thanked his wife, family and supporters that helped them get where they are.
The company expressed their gratitude and pride on their social media saying how “blown away” they were to receive five awards on the night – including the top business of the year gong.
“All were incredibly passionate and dedicated local businesses that we had the honour of being in the company of,” the company wrote.
The construction company took home Excellence in Small Business, Outstanding Business Leader – under 20 employees, Excellence in Trade Construction & Manufacturing, and Outstanding Employer of Choice – under 20 employees.
Mr Jensen also won the Master Builders Association Young Builder of the Year award in July along with the company winning in categories for Interior shop fit outs, Commerical Projects $450,000 – $750,000, Historical Restoration, House, and Additions, Alternations and Renovations under $400,000.
2024 Lismore Business Awards Winners
Connect Business Solutions took out two honours including Excellence in Business and Professional Services.
Notable categories with two winners included Cleanaway Pty Ltd and Summerland Bank for Excellence in Sustainability, and Our House and Women Up North for Outstanding Community Organisation, with Resilience Lismore highly commended.
Jims Termite and Pest Control Lismore along with Flourish Gallery/Studio shared Excellence in Micro Business - less than 5 employees with Stepz Fitness Lismore highly commended.
