A Nimbin P-plater who was at the wheel in a crash which left a passenger with a ruptured spleen and spinal fractures will soon learn his fate.

Jaxon Lewis Levy, 20, appeared before Lismore Local Court on Monday (September 5) after he drunkenly crashed his car on Blue Knob Rd, trapping his two passengers, on September 10, 2021.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm while under the influence.

Levy was driving northbound on Blue Knob Rd about 12.38am with two passengers when upon entering a road work area, his vehicle left the road and was airborne for 10 to 15 metres, court documents state.

The car hit banks on the side of the road before coming to rest in the middle of the street, leaving his passengers trapped in the wreckage.

One of the passengers, a male, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, court documents state.

He suffered a number of serious injuries including to his liver and spleen, as well as a broken collar bone and a number of serious spinal injuries and fractures, court documents state.

As a result of the crash, the victim has a “life-long injury that will require medication and extra precautions regarding diet and injury prevention”, the documents state.

Levy was later breath tested and returned a reading of 0.097 blood alcohol limit (BAC).

When he was arrested on October 27, he said he had no memory of the collision and did not recall drinking before the crash however he did not deny it, court documents state.

Levy was flanked by supporters during his courtroom appearance on Monday.

The court heard Levy will undergo a sentence assessment report before learning his fate.

He is to appear for sentence on October 17.
