LISMORE City Council will point out the results of Lismore's CSG poll result, which delivered an 87% vote against coal seam gas.

LISMORE City Council has voted to formally notify state and federal politicians of Lismore's CSG poll result in which 87% voted against CSG, and urging them to 'take steps to prevent CSG activity' in Lismore's LGA.

In leading the vote Cr Dowell said it was 'clear and unequivocal that this community does not want CSG', informing council she had so far received notices from 245 roads in Lismore's LGA declaring themselves CSG free.

"We value our agricultural land... our landscape... our water... our air, and we value our social harmony much more than the quick dollars that CSG can supposedly can brings us," she said.

"Our local members are hearing our voice but they need to see it and hear it in a formal way," said Cr Dowell.

The vote was not unanimous, with councillors Graham Meineke and Mathew Scheibel voting against, achieving a 9-2 result in favour.

Council will now write to NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell, NSW planning minister Brad Hazzard, federal environment minister Tony Burke, and local MPs Don Page, Thomas George, and Federal Labor MPs Janelle Saffin and Justine Elliot.
