Hundreds of soldiers help send off Sapper David Wood

MORE than 300 members of Sapper David Wood's regiment, 2nd Combat Engineering Regiment, have travelled from Brisbane to Casino in buses to attend the final farewell of their 'comrade in arms'.
Nearly 1000 people, representing family, friends, army, dignitaries and community groups gathered in the bushland setting near Queen Elizabeth Park to honour the life of an exceptional young man.
David, better known as 'Woody' to his army mates, was more than a soldier, as members of his family attested to when they shared stories of his love for them, his sense of humour and his deep passion for adventure.
Most of his short life was spent in Coraki and surrounds where he attended Coraki primary school and Evans River K-12, before moving to Casino where he finished high school there.
David is survived by his parents, Michael and Mandy Wood, his three brothers and two sisters of Casino and his extended family in Bora Ridge. David's loss is a tragedy and he will be sorely missed by his family, mates and his Regiment.
